Intellectual Assets Bootcamp

03 March 2010

As part of a new programme of events to promote intellectual assets in Scottish business, Blackadders, EQ Chartered Accountants and Ablett & Stebbing (Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys), in conjunction with the Intellectual Assets Centre, delivered a free bootcamp to 30 delegates at the Apex Hotel in Dundee.

Ablett & Stebbing provided an introduction to intellectual assets, with a particular focus on patent, trade mark and design protection. Blackadders looked at the law of copyright and examined how specialist legal advice can assist in the protection and exploitation of intellectual assets for competitive advantage. Finally EQ discussed how intellectual property and goodwill are valued, together with the relevant taxation aspects.

Blackadders are the only legal firm in Tayside and Angus to have been appointed and, by working closely with our collaborators, EQ Chartered Accountants and AblettĀ & Stebbing, aim to help businesses and entrepreneurs to identify related opportunities and issues and thereby capitalise on the synergies between the different disciplines associated with intellectual assets.
