Willie has extensive experience in agriculture and rural affairs, gained over 40 years in the profession. On completion of his law degree, Willie joined his father in the legal practice of Williamson & Henry, Solicitors, Kirkcudbright, a practice with a significant emphasis on agriculture and rural affairs. In the ensuing years, in developing his interest in all matters of agriculture and rural law in an area of Scotland renowned for its stock rearing and dairying enterprises, he specialised in agriculture and rural issues, including the sale and purchase of farms and issues of landlord and tenant.
In 2008 Willie moved from Williamson & Henry to take up a consultancy with Turcan Connell in Edinburgh, again with a distinct emphasis on agriculture and rural issues.
For a long number of years, Willie has been a member of the Rural Affairs Committee of The Law Society of Scotland. He chairs the Committee on Specialist Accreditation in Agricultural Law and has chaired various Law Society and other seminars on agricultural and rural law issues. Willie is a member of both The Agricultural Law Association and The Scottish Agricultural Arbiters and Valuers Association.
