Annual Kirkin’ of the Guildry Incorporation of Dundee

The Lord Dean of Guild, Scott Williamson; Clerk, Stuart King; Guild Assessors, along
with Guildry Incorporation members and their ladies attended the Annual Kirkin’ of the
Guildry in Dundee Parish Church, St Mary’s, on Sunday 10th February 2019.

The service, conducted by the Minister of St Mary’s, the Rev Keith Hall, was also attended by The Lord Provost, Ian Borthwick; the Deacon Convenor of the Nine Incorporated Trades, Robert Dunn and the Convenor of the Three United Trades, Grant Sturrock. The Rector of the High School of Dundee, Dr John Halliday, also attended accompanied by the School’s Head Boy; Sid Sripada Head Girl; Katie Anderson and Head Cadet: Shona Mactavish, who carried the recently commissioned Guildry banner.

Lead by pipers Andrew Brodlie and Bethany Hanley, those attending processed from the City Chambers to the Church shortly before 11.00am, and afterwards returned to City Chambers for a short reception kindly provided by the Lord Provost.

The Guildry Incorporation is Dundee’s historic merchant guild and one of the oldest bodies in the city, tracing its origins back over 800 years. Each year it holds a number of members’ events, and is involved in several ongoing projects, including a number of student awards and a schools’ competition.
