On Sunday the 1st of July members of Blackadders set on a 10K penguin march from Discovery point to the Maggies Centre in Dundee. Blackadders have sponsored one of the 80 giant individually designed penguin sculptures to help raise money for Maggies Centres.
The Blackadders penguin is named 'wellBEEing' and was painted by artist Caitlin Taylor, a student at Dundee and Angus College. Caitlin has previously used human biology in an art project and sees this project as an opportunity to explore the links between alternative and holistic medicines and art. She also takes inspiration from both the natural and man-made aspects of everyday life.

About the project
Maggie’s Penguin Parade is a free and accessible public art and cultural event that will see a colony of colourful giant penguins invade the city of Dundee during 2018, one of its most exciting years in history. We are delighted to be working with Wild in Art, one of the leading creative producers of spectacular mass appeal public art events to bring this wonderful parade to Dundee. The project will bring together businesses, schools, community groups, organisations, creative artists and the media in a celebration of our city. The project will also raise funds for Maggie’s Dundee, a charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends.
