Stephen Connolly, who will join Blackadders as a partner on September 13, is the latest addition to the firm’s Glasgow team. Previously a partner with Miller Samuel Hill Brown’s employment team in Glasgow, Stephen has specialised in employment law for over 15 years.

In addition to regularly representing clients in employment tribunals regarding contentious cases, Stephen provides strategic, practical advice on the full range of employment law and HR matters which can arise throughout the cycle of an employment relationship. These include disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, unfair dismissal, discrimination issues, the Working Time Regulations, Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations (TUPE), and contractual disputes.

Stephen also has significant experience in advising employer clients on GDPR obligations and on business immigration issues while he regularly designs and presents training courses on HR issues for management as well as senior directors and employees.

He will join the firm’s award-winning employment team, of which a number are accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as specialists in employment law, with partner Donna Reynolds being one of only six solicitors in Scotland to also be accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Discrimination Law.

Stephen said: “The prospect of joining such an ambitious Scottish law practice with a reputable employment team was too good an opportunity to miss. I look forward to working with them and helping to continue to build on their successful track record.”

Simon Allison, head of the firm’s employment team, said: “Securing a solicitor of Stephen’s calibre is a massive boost for increasing the team’s presence in Glasgow and will allow us to sustain the strong growth we are experiencing in our expanding client base.”

Blackadders’ employment team are currently finalists for this year’s Scottish Legal Awards’ Excellence in Client Care accolade while Donna Reynolds is a finalist for the esteemed Lawyer of the Year title. The industry-recognised annual legal awards event saw the team capped as winners of the 2019 Employment Team of the Year category and Simon Allison crowned as Lawyer of the Year in 2018.

On joining Blackadders, Stephen will bring the firm’s talent pool to 29 partners and 231 staff across the country.
