Blackadders Busy Bees – Making “Honey” for RSABI

The Blackadders Rural Land and Business team are taking part in the RSABI Great Glen Challenge.  RSABI is a charity that provides financial assistance, support and advice in confidence to those people who have worked in Scotland in land-based occupations and who are suffering hardship.  Every year RSABI helps hundreds of people with backgrounds in farming, crofting, forestry, horticulture, fish-farming, game-keeping and rural estate work who, due to illness, disability, poverty or crisis, find that they are unable to cope.

Our team will be running, kayaking, cycling and walking the Great Glen Way on 28 August 2015 to raise money for RSABI and support the great work of the charity. Below is a little information on the “Blackadders Busy Bees” and what they will be getting up to in the challenge!

Team Captain Ellen

Ellen Eunson – Ellen is our team captain and will be kicking off the challenge with a 34km cycle.  She is especially excited about unveiling the team mascot – a bumble bee custom knitted by her mum!

Cheryl getting used to be around water…

Cheryl Hogg –  Trainee solicitor Cheryl was persuaded to “volunteer” for the kayaking!  It will certainly be a memory of her seat with Blackadders rural team.  Cheryl’s second choice of career would be to play Elphaba in Wicked the musical….she might well turn green in her kayak and will be singing as she paddles her way round Loch Oich!

Gail will finally get her new walking books broken in!

Gail Clarke Gail is a keen walker but due to the weather this summer, hasn’t managed to break her new walking boots in as much as she’d liked.  She has however taken up Suduko in the last few weeks, in the hope that the brain training will pay off in the observations quiz!

Hazel Anderson will be joining Gail in the walking task.

Hazel Anderson – Hazel is joining the Busy Bees in an attempt to keep up with Gail Clarke on the walking section of the GGC. Hazel loves walking, but is slightly out of practice after having had a baby a few months ago. If her husband is not up to date with the combining, there is every chance that four month old Jamie will be strapped onto her back, and will be the youngest competitor raising money for RSABI

Jen 2
Blackadders very own Marathon Runner –  Jennifer Douglas

Jennifer Douglas – Our secret weapon Jen has been gently training for the 17km run by taking part in marathons(!)  Yes…..Jen has completed the London marathon and the Edinburgh marathon this year already.  Run Jen run (and no excuses for coming second)!

Petra
Team chauffeur (for the day!) Petra Grunenberg

Petra Grunenberg – Petra who heads up the Rural team at Blackadders will for one day only play chauffeur to the team. And supporting the team throughout of course!

The team are ready for the job and can’t wait to get the challenge under way. We are very grateful for all sponsors so far – if you would like to support our team and the fantastic RSABI cause, please do so by clicking here on this link!

Thank you!
