Dale is the Director of Private Client Services at Blackadders. He has over 20 years of experience in Private Client work, and specialises in executry and trust matters, having dealt with many complex cases over the years, including estates with a foreign element, and those with complex tax issues to be addressed.
Dale studied Mathematics at the University of Aberdeen before undertaking an MSc in Operational Research at the University of Sussex. He was an operational research analyst with the British Rail Policy Unit and APACS (the UK bank clearing system), before taking up a career in law, returning to Aberdeen to complete the Diploma in Legal Practice, since then he has specialised in Private Client work.
As Director of Private Client Services, he draws on his vast experience to streamline the administration of trusts and executry estates.
His expertise in taxes, particularly inheritance tax, ensures estates are dealt with in the most tax efficient manner.
For the individual, he specialises in wills and tax planning.
Dale is also qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, and can advise clients with cross-border issues.
- Dale has been a tutor on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh since 2002, and Senior Tutor since 2009, planning and directing the Private Client and Advanced Private client courses, and delivering lectures.
- He is also the external examiner for the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, Private Client course, at the University of Dundee.
- Dale reviews the Scottish examination papers for STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and is an author of modules for the STEP coursework.
- Dale speaks at various events attended by other members of the profession, on topics reflecting his expertise in Private Client matters.
