Biography

Paul qualified as a solicitor in 1979 and was admitted as a partner in the Glasgow firm, John S Boyle solicitors in 1982, which evolved into Boyle Shaughnessy solicitors. Paul has built a legal practice focussed primarily on property and private client work, and has advised a wide variety of clients in the Glasgow area and further afield until the firm’s recent merger with Blackadders.

Paul’s principal areas of work are commercial and residential property, advising individuals, family businesses and SME’S in all aspects of property law, encompassing the purchase, sale and refinancing of all types of property, landlord and tenant work including substantial leasing transactions, partnerships matters and providing clients with general business advice.

  • Assisted franchisees of well-known international brands with the development and expansion of their businesses throughout Scotland
  • Served for a number of years as a non-executive Director of St Vincents’ Hospice in Renfrewshire assisting them with their property portfolio

Biography

Emma spent 13 years working in Edinburgh as part of a market leading commercial property team. Emma is highly experienced in all aspects of commercial property including acquisitions and disposals, developments and investments and landlord and tenant work (with wide ranging experience in both the office and retail and leisure sectors). 

Emma offers extensive experience in property finance, acting for lenders in secured lending transactions. Being dual qualified under Scottish and English law, Emma enjoys working on transactions with UK wide portfolios.

Biography

A large section of Fraser’s career has been spent advising corporate, commercial and individual clients including banks and other financial institutions, government bodies, property developers, property investors and high net worth individuals with regard to their real estate and real estate finance requirements.

Fraser’s experience spans 30 years of working in the property/real estate sector. He is proactive and positive in his approach to business. He works with all sections of society from the public, commerce and third sector. Biography

John spent 10 years working in Edinburgh as part of a leading UK commercial property team and joined Blackadders in 2016. John is qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and England & Wales and is well known for providing a one-stop service for clients in Scotland with property interests throughout the whole of the UK.

He advises on all real estate matters and in particular investment acquisitions, secured lending, freehold and leasehold sales and acquisitions as well as commercial leasing (acting for both landlords and tenants).

John has particular expertise in the retail and leisure sectors having previously acted for some of the UK’s leading retail and leisure household names.

John is also known for his experience in dealing with the acquisition and subsequent management and sale of shopping centres in Scotland for institutional investors.

Biography

Stuart has spent more than 10 years working in Edinburgh in one of the largest commercial property teams in the country, as well as for a renowned private client firm dealing with their commercial property requirements. He has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial and residential property, including investment acquisitions and disposals, and landlord and tenant work.

Stuart has advised on the Scottish aspects of cross-border portfolio projects, and has wide experience in property finance matters, acting for lenders and institutional investors in secured lending transactions. He has acted for, amongst others, UK and international companies, financial institutions, private individuals and on behalf of personal pension schemes. He acts for both landlords and tenants in retail, office and other lettings.

Stuart has worked as a tutor on the undergraduate degree and post graduate diploma courses at the Universities of Edinburgh and Dundee.

  • Acted for a leading hotel chain in their refinancing projects (on the Scottish side of their cross-border transactions), lease acquisitions and disposals, and general property and leasing advice on their hotel portfolio.

Biography

Jennifer Davidson is a senior solicitor in our commercial property team.

Jennifer joined the Rural Land and Business team at the start of 2015. She initially joined Blackadders in 2014 as part of our residential conveyancing department having practised in both Aberdeen and Perth since qualifying as a solicitor in 2006 where she has dealt with rural clients. Jennifer now deals with commercial property matters. 

Outside of the office Jennifer is a keen runner having completed a number marathons and half marathons and completed the London marathon in 2015, followed by the Paris Marathon in 2016.

Biography

Fiona studied law and then obtained her Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Aberdeen.  She is now an associate in our Commercial Property Department and works in our Perth and Dundee offices.

Fiona has many years’ experience in general practice, particularly in all aspects of residential property and in private client work.  Now focussing mainly on commercial property, Fiona has experience of acting for developers in the acquisition and sale of development sites, for lenders in secured lending transactions, for institutional investors in purchase and sale transactions and for landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters.

Fiona is a Notary Public and has worked as a tutor on the postgraduate diploma course at the University of Edinburgh
